PERJURY.

 

Any person corruptly procuring a witness to commit perjury in any

 

matter depending in a court of record, or suborning a witness to be

 

sworn, in pcrpetuam rei memoriam, on being lawfully convict to

 

forfeit £40, or not having goods to the value, to sufler one year's

 

imprisonment without bail, and stand one hour in the pillory —

Any person convict of wilful and corrupt perjury, by subornation or

 

otherwise, in a court of record, or in perpetuam rei memoriam, to

 

forfeit £20, and suffer six months imprisonment without bail, or

 

not having goods to the value, to be set in the pillory, and have

 

both ears nailed thereto — 1692, ch. 16, sec. 4, ....

No person convict ns aforesaid, to be received ns a witness in any

 

court of record till such judgment be reversed, in which case he

 

shall recover damages against the person procuring such judgment,

If any person shall feloniously steal, take and carry away, the personal

 

goods of another, under the value of $5, or shall break into a shop,

 

&c. not contiguous to or used with any mansion-house, and steal

 

money, goods, &c. under the value of $1, the same course of trial

 

shall be had as for other simple larcenies; the person convicted

 

shall be deemed guilty of petit larceny, shall restore the goods

 

stolen, or pay the value, and shall be confined in the penitentiary

 

not less than three months nor more than one year — 1809, ch. 138,
