a supplement, as a compensation for their services, which said
fees shall be divided amongst them, in the same ratio as their
per diem was by the act to which this is a supplement.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said justices of the said
magistrates' courts for Saint Mary's county, shall direct all
civil process to some constable residing in their respective
districts.

chapter twenty five, regulating Officers' Fees. — 1839, ch. 277.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the sheriff of Saint
Mary's county shall receive eight per cent, upon all officers'
fees by him collected.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That all such acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with this act, be, and they are hereby repealed.

SOMERSET COUNTY,

AN Act fof the Re-assessment and Valuation of the Real and Personal
Property in Somerset County. — 1839, ch. 20.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the real and personal property in Somerset county,
shall be valued agreeably to the directions of this act, and shall
be chargeable according to such valuation, with the public as-
sessment for said county, except such description of property
as is cxcepted out of the valuation by the act of assembly,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-
nine, chapter one hundred and six, and also property belong-
ing to different denominations of Christians in said county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for Somer-
set county, shall meet at Princess Anne town, as soon after the
passage of this act, and an authenticated copy thereof shall
have been received by them, as may be convenient, and when
so met shall appoint three sensible and active persons of said
county, to be assessors of the real and personal property in
said county, and shall cause an entry of such appointment to
be made in their book of proceedings; and shall immediately
after such appointment, designate a day and place not exceed-
ing fifteen days after such appointment, of which a period not
exceeding ten days shall be given by the said commissioners,
or their clerk, for the said assessors to be and appear before
