sation of
teacher.

the school commissioners, be permitted to pay a teacher more
than the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars semi-
annually ; And provided also, that the said commissioners may
in their discretion, contract with a teacher or teachers, at any
less sum or sums.

Repeal.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts in-
consistent with this act, be, and they are hereby repealed.

 

FREDERICK COUNTY.

AN ACT for the benefit of the person who warms the Court-room, and has
care of the Fires in Frederick County Court. — 1839, ch. 4.

Compensa-
tion for
attending
the fires in
court room.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the person who warms the court-room, and has the care of the
fires in Frederick county court, be, and he is hereby entitled
to the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per day for his services ;
and that upon a certificate from the clerk of said county, of the
number of days he has attended, the collector of taxes for said
county is hereby ordered and directed to pay over, upon pre-
sentation of such certificate, the amount thereof, in the same
manner that the jurors of said county are now paid.

An ACT for the benefit of the Crier of Frederick County Court.
1839, ch. 5.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the collector of
Frederick county, be, and he is hereby directed and required
to pay over to the crier of Frederick county court, on presenta-
tion of his account, certified by the clerk of said county, the
amount which may be due him for his attendance on the diffe-
rent county courts, as also for attendance on the different chan-
cery terms of said court, immediately after their adjournment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of Frederick
county, shall annually levy upon said county, such sums of
money as in their judgment may be necessary for the payments
authorized by this act, and also by an act, entitled, an act for
the benefit of the person who warms the court-room, and has
the care of the fires in Frederick county court.

That William Grove, John Shindler and Joseph L. Huffer, or
