WORCESTER COUNTY.

said persons as really deserve the public bounty, and of pro-
tecting the interests of the county.

Levy and

discretion
authorized.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the levy court aforesaid,
be, and they are hereby authorized in their discretion, to levy
on the assessable property of said county, as other county
charges are levied, for the support of such of said persons as
they, in their discretion, may think proper, such sums respec-
tively, as humanity and a due regard to the interests of the
county may seem to require, not exceeding in the case of any
pensioner the amount heretofore allowed said pensioner, and
as much less as they think proper, and the said levy court
shall not be compelled to levy as aforesaid any sum whatever,
for the support of any of said persons, except such as they in
their discretion may think proper.

Repealing
clause.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That so much of the several
acts of assembly, passed for the relief of sundry poor persons
in the several counties of this state, and so much of every act
of assembly as is inconsistent with the provisions of this act,
be, and the same are hereby repealed.

A further SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act to provide for the relief
and support of the Poor and Indigent Persons of Worcester County,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-five. — 1838,
ch. 105.

Authority
to apply
proceeds of

sale.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners named in the act to which this is a
supplement, or a majority of them, be, and they are hereby
authorized to apply the proceeds arising from the sale of the
poor-house and premises, directed by the said act to be sold,
to the general purposes of the said act, any thing in the said
original act to the contrary notwithstanding.

Further
levy au-
thorized.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the levy court or county
commissioners of Worcester county, be, and they are hereby
authorized and required to levy and assess on the property in
the said county, according to the provisions of the act to which
this is a supplement, such further sum or sums of money, as
the commissioners aforesaid, or a majority of them, may deem
necessary to carry out and complete the purposes of the said
original act, not exceeding in the whole, the sum of one thou-
sand dollars.
