SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That no commissioner for Somer-
set county shall be, directly or indirectly, concerned, in fur-
nishing, or in any contract for furnishing, any article required
for the use of the alms-house of Somerset county, under the

penalty of five hundred dollars, to be recovered by an action
at law, in the county court, in the name of the state, one-half
for the use of the informer, the other half for the use of the
county.
SEC. 11. Repealed by 1838, ch. 272.

Penalty.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners for
Somerset county, shall have power and authority to borrow
money, in anticipation of the money to be raised by county
levies, from any individual, or bodies corporate, for the pur-
pose of defraying such county expenses, demands, and con-
tracts, as shall be of urgent necessity, or which the commis-
sioners may deem most advantageous to the interest of the
county.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with
the provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby re-
pealed.

A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT passed at the present session of Assembly, to
provide for the election of Commissioners of Somerset County, and to
enlarge their powers and duties. — 1838, ch. 272.

Repealing
clause.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the eleventh section of the act to which this is a supplement,
be, and the same is hereby repealed.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy courts of Somerset and Worcester
counties are hereby vested with all the powers and authority
given to the county courts of Somerset and Worcester, by the
act to which this is a supplement, passed at November session,

of this act, the powers of the said county court, with regard
to making contracts for keeping public ferries at the county
expense, is hereby abrogated and made void.
