QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY.

 

charges as he may incur from the imprisonment of any person
or persons in the jail of said county ; Provided always, that
the said levy court shall not be authorized to levy such sum or
sums until they are fully satisfied that such person or persons
is or are entirely unable to discharge and pay the same.
SEC. 2. Relates only to the account of John S. Blake.

Levy for

fuel;

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the levy court aforesaid be,
and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy such sum
of money annually on the county aforesaid, as in their judg-
ment may be sufficient to furnish the jail of said county with
fuel ; Provided, that said fuel shall be used solely for the com-
fort and benefit of the prisoners in said jail, together with such
sum as may be deemed by said court necessary for the keeping
in repair said jail and the appurtenances thereunto belonging.

Blacksmith;
levy.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the court aforesaid are
hereby empowered to employ a blacksmith by the year, and
annually thereafter, to do the necessary iron work at the jail
in said county, if in their opinion it would add to the interest
of said county to thus employ such workman, and they are
further authorized to levy such sum of money as they may
agree to allow him, on the assessable property of the county
aforesaid.

JURORS.
AN ACT to fix the compensation of Jurors in Queen Anne's County.
1829, ch. 131.

Compensa-
tion.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That each and every juror hereafter to be summoned on the
regular panel of jurors to Queen Anne's county court, shall
be entitled to receive for each day which he shall attend as a
juror, the sum of one dollar and fifty cents, and in addition
thereto, an allowance of six and a quarter cents per mile, for
every mile that his place of residence shall be distant from the
place of holding the county court ; and to be levied, collected,
and paid, in the same manner, and at the same time, with his
per diem allowance ; and he shall be entitled to receive mile-
age for each day such juror shall attend the court.

Explana-
tory.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing contained in the
aforegoing section shall be construed to allow any juror mile-
age in returning to his residence, during the time he shall
attend said county court.

AM ACT to provide for the more speedy payment of Jurors in Queen
Anne's County.— 1831, ch. 243.
