MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
 

Gittings, were authorized and appointed to inspect, value and
purchase the certificates of surveys, resurveys, plats and other
papers, which in their judgment they might deem essential to
the interest, and relating to the land affairs of Montgomery
county ; And whereas, the aforesaid papers have been pur-
chased and delivered to the surveyor of said county, under
the provisions of the uaid act of assembly and the supplement
thereto, to be filed in his office, to be considered and kept as
public papers, by the said surveyor of Montgomery county,
and his successors ; therefore,

give ex-
tracts; com-
pensation.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall be the duty of the surveyor of Montgomery county,
and his successors, to give extracts of such papers and plats to
any person or persons applying for the same, and the surveyor
furnishing the same, shall be entitled to demand and receive
from the person or persons so furnished, such compensation
therefor as is allowed by law to the clerks of the county
courts for like services.

AN ACT to provide for the purchase of certain Papers, for the use of the
Surveyor's Office of Montgomery County. — 1836, ch. 208.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas Gittings, William O. Chappell, and William
Chiswell, of the county aforesaid, or any two of them, be, and
they are hereby authorized and appointed to inspect, value,
and purchase the plats, certificates, field notes and other pa-
pers of Willy Janes, assistant surveyor of said county, if they
shall think it expedient, and to allow the said Willy Janes
such compensation for the same, as shall be deemed just and
reasonable.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners afore-
said, before they act as such, shall take an oath, before some
justice of the peace of said county, truly and faithfully to exe-
cute the duty hereby committed to them, according to their
best judgment, and shall return to the levy court of said
county, a certificate of their qualification according to the
provisions of this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
make a return of the amount, if any allowed for the purchase
of the papers aforesaid, to the levy court of Montgomery
county, who are hereby authorized to levy the same on the

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That when the said papers are
procured as aforesaid, they shall deliver the same to the sur-
veyor of the county, who shall file them in his office, and from
thenceforth be considered, and kept as public papers by the
present surveyor of Montgomery county, and his successors.
