tion.

Treasurer
to pay to
orphans
court.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted^ That the commissioners above
named} or a majority of whom so attending, shall each be enti-
tled to the sum of two dollars per diem, for each and every day
they shall be engaged in the performance of the duties re-
quired of them by this act, to be paid by the orphans court,
out of any unappropriated money which may now or hereafter
come into their hands for the purposes of education, and for
the use of the upper district of said county, any law to the
contrary notwithstanding.

AN ACT for the distribution of the Interest on the State's share of the Sur-
plus Revenue, and to apply the surplus of the Charity, or Free School
Fund, to the purposes of Common School Education, so far as the
same relates to Caroline County.— 1837, ch. 289.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the treasurer of the western shore, be, and he is hereby
authorized and directed to pay to the order of the orphans
court of Caroline county, annually, at the same time he is now
directed by law to pay similar funds, such portion of the in-
terest on the surplus revenue as said county shall, or may,

from time to time, be entitled to, and it shall be the duty of
the said court on receiving the same, as aforesaid, to make an
equal distribution among the several election districts of said
county, and it shall be the further duty of said court to divide
the amounts so apportioned to the election districts, equally
among all the schools or sites that may, at the time, be either
laid off or in operation, subject to the order of the trustees of
the school districts respectively.

A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act for the further distribution
of the Donation to the Colleges and Academies in the seveial Counties
in this State, so far as the same relates to Caroline County, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred And thirty-one, chapter two hun-
dred and forty-four— 1838, ch. 280.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented jto this general assembly, that
the convenience of the people requires the location of a school
at Townsend's cross-roads, in Caroline county, the better to
effectuate the spirit of the act to which this is a supplement,
and to further the cause of education ; therefore,

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
there shall be a school at Townsend's cross-roads, in Caroline
county, and that said school shall be known as one of the lo-
cated schools of said county, and entitled to all the benefits and
privileges conferred by the act to which this is a supplement,
in like manner, and to the same extent as the schools hereto-
fore located in the middle district of said county by commis-
sionhfers appointed under the act passed at December session,
