this act contained shall be construed in any manner to authorize
the commissioners of Hillsborough School in Caroline county
to demand or receive any part of the school funds mentioned in
this act, inasmuch as the said commissioners do annually re-
ceive from this state's treasury, a donation of five hundred
dollars for the exclusive use and benefit of said school.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the justices of the orphans
court of said county, be, and they are hereby authorized and
directed whenever they in their judgment may deem it neces-
sary so to do, to sell the bank stock belonging to said county,
and the money therefrom arising, together with the money now
the hands of the aforesaid agent, to lay out in some profitable
stock for the purposes aforesaid.

Sfic. 7. And be it enacted. That the justices of the said
orphans court shall have power, and they are hereby directed
and required to appoint five suitable persons in each election
district of said county as commissioners, whose duty it shall be
to ascertain and point out such schools in their respective dis-
tricts as shall in their opinion be entitled to receive a part of
the school fund of said county, except as herein before pro-
vided ; and in case of death, resignation, removing out of the
district, or refusal to serve, the said court shall appoint another
or others in their place or places, so that the said number of
five commissioners in each district shall always be kept full.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted. That the said justices shall
annually divide all such funds as shall come into their hands in
virtue of the provisions of this act and the act to which this is a
further supplement, equally between the three election dis-
tricts of said county ; and shall place one-third part thereof at
the disposition of the commissioners of these respective districts,
whose duty it shall be to appropriate and apply the same to the
education of poor white children — that is to say, children who
are poor orphans, or whose parents are unable to pay for their
educations ; and it shall be the duty of the commissioners of
each respective district, to settle an account annually on the
second Monday of April, with the orphans court of said county,
shewing in what manner the moneys which hath been entrusted
to their care has been expended, what number of poor children
hath been thereby educated, and what length of time, and
what sum of money, if any, still remains on hand unappro-
priated.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the justices of the orphans
court of said county, shall annually return an account to the
general assembly of this state, shewing the amount of the funds
belonging to said county, the annual income thereof, and in
what manner the same has been appropriated.
