PRISONERS— REGISTER— ROADS.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when the said buildings shall
have been procured or erected, they shall be delivered over to
the trustees of the poor of the said county, and that the institu-
tion shall be liable to the laws, rules, and regulations pre-
scribed for the government of the present poor's-bouse.

PRISONERS.
AN ACT to increase the allowance to Sheriffs for keeping Prisoners in gaol
and finding them victuals, in the several counties therein mentioned. —
1816, ch. 178.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may be lawful for the sheriffs of Dorchester,
Cecil, Kent, Caroline, Calvert, Montgomery, Saint Mary's,
Charles, and Somerset counties, to ask, demand, and receive,
for keeping prisoner in gaol, and finding him victuals, thirty
cents per day, in lieu of the sum now allowed, to be levied
and collected according to law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue and
be in force for one year, and until the end of the next session
of the general assembly thereafter.

REGISTER.
AN ACT authorizing the Levy Court of Calvert County to borrow a sum
of Money for the purposes therein mentioned. — 1816, ch. 158.
SEC. 1. Authorizes a loan.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That on the completion of the
said court-house and gaol, and the offices attached thereto, the
offices of clerk of the county court and register of wills, shall
be kept, with all the papers belonging to them, at the said
court-house.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any law or laws authorizing
the clerk and register to keep their offices at a different place,
inconsistent with, and repugnant to this act, be, and the same is
hereby repealed.

AN ACT for the better protection of Slaveholders in the several Counties
therein mentioned. — 1817, ch. 227.

ROADS.
AN ACT relating to the Public Roads in the several Counties therein
mentioned. — 1801, ch. 54.

Repeal.

WHEREAS, the present mode of repairing the public roads
in Saint Mary's, Calvert, Charles, Caroline and Dorchester
counties, is found by experience to be expensive, and inade-
quate to the purpose intended, and it has been found neces-
sary that proper regulations should forthwith be made for
