ASSESSMENT.

judgment, execute the duties of said office, without favour, af-
fection, partiality or prejudice;' which oath or affirmation any
one of the commissioners of the tax, or any justice of the
peace may administer.

 

SEC. 45. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
shall cause their clerk to deliver to the clerk of his county, and
to the collector of the tax annually, on or before the twentieth
day of June, each a duplicate of the alphabetical list of the
owners or persons chargeable with the assessment of property
within their county, with the amount of each person's assessed
property, annexed to his or her name, and in case such clerk
shall neglect or refuse to comply therewith, he shall forfeit and
pay the sum of two hundred dollars for every such offence; and
it shall be the duty of the clerks of the respective counties to
keep the said duplicate in some conspicuous place in his office,
subject to the inspection and perusal of the citizens of his
county without fee or reward.
SEC. 46. Nominates commissioners.
SEC. 47. And be it enacted, That all the several acts of as-
sembly, contrary to, or which are supplied by this act, be and
the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Baltimore county shall be, and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to cause all the real and
personal property in Baltimore county, without the limits of the
city of Baltimore to be valued, and such valuation shall be
made in the manner provided by the act of assembly, passed at
November session, eighteen hundred and twelve, chapter one
hundred and ninety-one, entitled, an act for the valuation of
real and personal property in the several counties of this state,
except where otherwise directed or authorized by this act, and
the better to enable the said commissioners to effect the objects

powers granted to or vested in the commissioners of the tax
for Baltimore county by the said act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners may
divide the county into such and so many assessment districts
for the purpose of making the said valuation, and appoint so
many assessors for making the same, and allow each of them
such compensation in just proportion to their services, as the
commissioners in their discretion may consider to be proper;
and they may, if in their opinion it shall be necessary for the
public convenience and benefit, alter the size or number of the
assessment districts, remove or dismiss from office any assessor
