the same are hereby repealed, and that the aforesaid act, enti-
tled, an act for the better regulation of the militia of the city Of
Baltimore, passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
twenty-three, chapter one hundred and eighty-eight, and the

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all able-bodied white male
citizens, between the ages of twenty-one and forty-five years,
residents of the city of Baltimore, and not exempted by the first
section of the act of eighteen hundred and twenty-three, chap-

formed into two divisions, one whereof shall be the third divi-

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the second light brigade of
Maryland volunteers, shall consist of the first regiment of rifle-
men, heretofore attached to the first light brigade, and of a new
regiment of infantry, to be called the fifty-third regiment of
volunteer infantry, for which new regiment of infantry, the
governor and council shall issue commissions to the usual field,
regimental, staff and company officers as herein after directed;
the said regiment to be under the same regulations in every
respect, and to have the same privileges as the fifth regiment of
volunteer infantry which now forms part of the first light
brigade.

of a major-general of said first light division he shall be recom-
