ASSESSMENT.
|
|
By the charter, the corporation has the power to order an assessment of
|
|
real and personal property when they shall deem it consistent with the
|
|
public interest.
|
|
By 1821, ch. 252, sec. 4, ante page 1429, 'the various acts of assem-
|
|
bly directing the manner of collecting the county assessments shall be ex-
|
|
tended to the city of Baltimore.'

AN ACT to regulate Sales by Public Auction — 1827, ch. 111.
|
|
SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|

That all goods, wares, merchandises and effects whatsoever,

sales.

which shall at any time, from and after the first day of April

next, be exposed to sale, at public auction or vendue, within the
|
|
city of Baltimore, by any auctioneer or other person, duly autho-
|
|
rized or appointed, as is herein after directed, and shaft be struck
|
|
off to the highest bidder, shall be subjected to a duty of one
|
|
dollar for every hundred dollars, of the value for which the
|
|
same shall be sold, and after die same rate, for any greater or
|
|
less sum, to be paid by the person who shall sell the same.
