SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the clerk of county courts,

CHAPTER 253.

AN ACT relating to Promissory Notes and Bills of Exchange.
|
|
|
SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|

That a protest duly made by a notary public, of a promissory

note, for non-payment, or of a bill of exchange, whether foreign
|
non-accep-

|
or inland, for non-acceptance or non-payment, shall be prima
|
tance.

the presentment of such note for payment, or of such bill for
|
|
|
acceptance or payment, at the time and in the manner stated in
|
|
|
the protest.

|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That when such protest shall

been sent or delivered to the party or parties to such note or bill,

and the manner of such notice, such protest shall be prima facie

CHAPTER 261.

AN ACT to limit and define the operation of Acts of the General Assembly
|
|
|
of Maryland.
|
|
|
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
|

all acts of assembly which may be passed at any future session

1st June.

of the general assembly of Maryland, and which may relate to,
|
|
|
or affect the general administration of justice, or the right of
|
|
|
property in this state, shall operate and have effect, from and
|
|

after the first day of June next ensuing the time of the passage
|
|
|
of such act, and not before ; Provided, that the general assem-
|

bly shall have the power by express words to be inserted in any
|
|
|
such act, to declare that the same act shall have operation on
|
|
|
or after a different day.

CHAPTER 279.
|
|
|
AN ACT ceding to the United States the Jurisdiction of (he State of
|
|
|
Maryland in, to, and over certain Lands on Whetstone Point, near the
|
|
|
City of Baltimore.
|
|
|
WHEREAS, it is represented to the general assembly that the
|
Preamble.
|
|
United States have purchased certain lots of ground on Whet-
|
|
|
stone Point, near the city of Baltimore, in order the more effec-
|
|
|
tually to promote the ends of the government in the erection of
|
|
