SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the treasurer for the western
shore shall be, and hereby is authorized to deliver to the secre-
tary of the treasury of the United States, certificates of deposits
for the sum or suras of money to be received by him for this
state, as aforesaid, which certificates shall be signed by the said
treasurer, and in such form as may be prescribed by the secre-
tary of the treasury aforesaid ; shall express the usual and legal
obligations, and pledge the faith of this state for the safe keep-

ing and repayment thereof, and shall pledge the faith of this
state to pay the said moneys, and every part thereof, from time
to time, whenever the same shall be required by the secretary
of the treasury, for the purposes and in the manner and propor-
tion set forth and described in the aforesaid act of congress.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if the said treasurer shall
receive payment of the sum or sums of money to be awarded
as aforesaid to this state, in checks or drafts on the Union Bank
of Maryland and Franklin Bank of Baltimore, or either of
them, he shall be, and hereby is authorized to demand pay-
ment thereof, and whenever any sum or sums of money afore-
said, shall be paid to the treasurer, it shall be his duty to depo-
site the same in the Union Bank of Maryland, Franklin Bank
of Baltimore and Farmers Bank of Maryland, in the following

proportions ; not less than one-fourth, nor more than two-fifth
part thereof in the Farmers Bank of Maryland, and the residue
in the Union Bank of Maryland and Franklin Bank of Balti-
more, in such proportions as to the treasurer may seem proper,

general assembly.

CHAPTER 56.

AN ACT to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire
with the present session of the General Assembly.

 

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all such acts or parts of acts as would expire with the present
session of the general assembly, be, and the same are hereby
re-enacted and continued in force to the last Monday of Decem-
ber next, and to the end of the session of the general assembly
thereafter.

CHAPTER 70.
A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act relating to Insolvent Debtors
in the City and County of Baltimore, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter two hundred and twenty-one.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so much of the act of assembly, passed at December ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter two hundred and
twenty-one, as restricts the appointment of commissioners of
