Note: Of the twenty-seven original members
of the Commission, twenty-one were appointed
to serve on three committees each. The
exceptions were Governor Lane and Mr.
Eney, who were ex officio members of each
committee; Mr. Martineau, who was ap-
pointed to only two committees because of his
position as secretary of the Commission;
Judge McWilliams and Mr. Scanlan, who were
appointed to only two committees because of
their chairmanship of committees which were
thought to be especially demanding; and
Judge Walsh, who was appointed to only two
committees by request.
When the pace of committee and Commis-
sion meeting's quickened toward the begin-
ning of the summer of 1966, each Commission
member who was serving on three committees
was removed from one committee, with the
exception of Mrs. Freedlander and Mr. Gen-
try. Persons appointed to fill vacancies were
each appointed to membership on two com-
mittees.
