Sec. 2. The City of Bal-
timore shall be divided into
six legislative districts as near
as may be of equal popula-
tion and of contiguous terri-
tory, and each of said legisla-
tive districts of Baltimore
City, as they may from time
to time be laid out, in ac-
cordance with the provisions
hereof, and each county in
the State, shall be entitled
to one Senator, who shall be
elected by the qualified
voters of the said legislative
districts of Baltimore City
and of the counties of the
State, respectively, and shall
serve for four years from
the date of his election.
Sec. 2. Each County in
the State, and each of the
three Legislative Districts of
Baltimore City, as they are
now, or may hereafter be de-
fined, shall be entitled to one
Senator, who shall be elec-
ted by the qualified voters of
the Counties, and of the Leg-
islative Districts of Baltimore
City, respectively, and shall
serve for four years from the
date of his election, subject
to the classification of Sen-
ators, hereafter provided for.
Sec. 2. Immediately after
the adoption of this Con-
stitution, and before there
shall have been held any
general election under it,
the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore shall proceed
to lay off and divide the
said city into three several
districts, of equal population
and contiguous territory, as
near as may be, which said
districts shall be called the
first, second, and third Leg-
islative Districts of Balti-
more city. Sec. 3. Every county in
the State, and each Legisla-
tive district of Baltimore city,
as hereinbefore provided for,
shall be entitled to one Sen-
ator, who shall be elected
by the qualified voters of the
counties, and of the Legisla-
tive districts of Baltimore
city, respectively, and shall
serve for four years from the
date of his election, subject
to the classification of Sena-
tors, hereinafter provided
for.
Sec. 2. Every county of
the State, and the city of
Baltimore, shall be entitled
to elect one Senator, who
shall be elected by the quali-
fied voters of the counties
and city of Baltimore, re-
spectively, and who shall
serve for four years from
the day of their election

14. That the senate be
chosen in the following man-
ner: All persons, qualified
as aforesaid to vote for
county delegates, shall on
the first Monday of Septem-
ber 1781, and on the same
day in every fifth year for
ever thereafter, elect viva
voce,
by a majority of votes,
two persons for their re-
spective counties, qualified
as aforesaid to be elected
county delegates, to be
electors of the senate; and
the sheriff of each county,
or in case of sickness his
deputy (summoning two
justices of the county who
are required to attend for the
preservation of the peace)
shall hold and be judge of
the said election, and make
return thereof as aforesaid.
And all persons qualified as
aforesaid to vote for dele-
gates for the city of Annapo-
lis and Baltimore town, shall
on the same first Monday of
September 1781, and on the
same day in every fifth year
forever thereafter, elect
viva voce, by a majority of
votes, one person for the
aid city and town re-
pectively, qualified as a-
oresaid to be elected a dele-
gate for the said city and
own respectively; the said
lection to be held in the
ame manner as the election
f delegates for the said city

ties of this State, for the pur-
pose of holding all future
Elections for delegates, Elec-
tors of the Senate, and
Sheriffs of the several Coun-
ties, shall be divided into
separate districts in the man-
ner hereinafter directed, viz :
Saint Mary's County, shall
be divided and laid off into
three separate districts, Kent
County shall be divided and
laid off into three separate
districts, Calvert County
shall be divided and laid off
into three separate districts,
Charles County shall be di-
vided and laid off into four
Separate districts, Talbot
County shall be divided and
laid off into four separate
districts, Somerset County
shall be divided and laid off
into three Separate districts,
Dorchester County shall be
divided and laid off into

Cecil County shall be divided
and laid off into four sep-
