CONSTITUTIONAL REVISION STUDY DOCUMENTS

Proposed by Act of 1835, chapter 256.
Ratified 1836.
After the confirmation of this act,
such parts of the aforesaid counties of
Baltimore and Frederick, as are con-
tained within the Bounds and limits fol-
lowing, to wit: .... shall be erected
into a new county by the name of Car-
roll County and that the seat of justice
thereof be established at Westminster.
Proposed by Act of 1835, chapter 259.
Ratified 1836. Sec. 1. All Such parts of the Consti-
tution and form of Government Wereby
Cecil County has been divided and laid
off into four Separate Election Districts
be, and the same is hereby repealed. Sec. 2. ... [the appointed commis-
sioners] are hereby authorized if they
shall deem it necessary for the conveni-
ence of the Voters of Said County to
lay off and divide anew, Cecil County
into Separate Election districts not ex-
cluding in number seven. . . .
All that part of the second Election
district of Anne Arundel County lying
out of the City of Annapolis shall Con-
stitute and Compose the Second Elec-
tion District of said County.
The City of Annapolis shall consti-
tute the Sixth Election District of said
County for all Elections hereafter to be
held for Sheriffs, Electors of President
and vice President and Electors of the
Senate of this State and for a member
of Congress of Said election shall be
held by the Mayor, Recorder and Alter-
men of the said City of any three or
more of them at such place within the
said city as they may appoint.

So much of the Constitution of the
State, as relates to the division of Wor-

and the same is hereby altered and
amended so far as to authorize the divi-
sion of the sixth Election district in Said
County into two Separate Election dis-
tricts.

Ratified 1837.
So much of the constitution of this
State, as relates to the division of Wash-
ington County into election districts, be
and the Same is hereby altered and
amended, so far as to authorize the erec-
tion of an additional district of Said
County to be composed of parts of the
third and seventh election districts.
Proposed by Act of 1836, chapter 197.
Ratified 1837. Sec. 1. The term of office of the mem-
bers of the present Senate shall end and
be determined whenever and as soon as
a new Senate shall be elected as herein-
after provided, and a quorum of its
members shall have qualified, as directed
by the Constitution and laws of this
State. Sec. 2. At the December Session of
the General Assembly for the year of
Our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty
eight, and forever thereafter, the Senate
shall be composed of twenty one mem-
bers, to be chosen as hereinafter pro-
vided; a majority of whom shall be a
quorum for the transaction of business. Sec. 3. At the time and place of hold-
ing elections in the Several Counties of
this State, and in the City of Baltimore
for Delegates to the General Assembly
for the December Session of the year
eighteen hundred and thirty eight, and
under the direction of the Same Judges
by whom such elections for Delegates
