All scholarships are free to deaf children of the State.
Deaf Children are so educated as to become self-supporting elements
of society. Besides the regular course of study, ineluding high school
branches, every boy at graduation has become master of some trade,
such as Printing, Cabinet-making, Shoemaking, Tailoring etc., while
the girls will have completed a course in Domestic Science and House-
hold Arts.
in connection with speech and lip-reading, vocal exercises, with aid
of the piano, are given to encourage the speech habit, develop the vocal
organs and to aid in correct enunciation and pitch of voice.
Military training is given to all the boys. The school is strictly
nonsectarian. Enrollment, 160 pupils.
