778 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 32,

Mr. Tome submitted the following amendment to the third
section of said bill:

Add to the end of section 3, "so long as the city Passenger
Rail Road Company runs their cars on Sunday, they shall be
released from paying the one-fifth gross Receipts of the earn-
ings of said Company into the Register's office of the city of
Baltimore, for the Park fund:

Which was read and rejected.

Mr. Davis of Washington, submitted the following :

|Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this law being intended exclu-
sively as asanatary measure, and for the benefit of the poor of
the city of Baltimore, that all the earnings of the cars accru-
ing on the Sabbath above the cost of running them, be appro-
priated toward the maintenance of such charitable institu-
tions within said city as the Mayor of said city may indicate;

Which was read and rejeceted by yeas and nays as follow :
