Sec. 3. And be it enacted. That the provisions
contained in sections one hundred and sixty-five,
one hundred and sixty-seven, one hundred and
sixty-eight, one hundred and sixty-nine, one hun-
dred and seventy-one, one hundred and seventy-
two, one hundred and seventy-five, one hundred
and seventy-six, one hundred and seventy-seven,
one hundred and seventy-eight, of Article nine-
teen, sub-title, Salisbury, of the Public Local
Laws of Somerset county, be and the same are
hereby extended to the citizens of Salisbury town. |

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That sections one
hundred and sixty-six, one hundred and seventy-
one, one hundred and seventy-three and one hun-
dred and seventy-four, of Article nineteen, sub-
title, Salisbury, of the Public Local Laws of Som-
erset county, be and the same are hereby repealed,
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows : |

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the free male
white inhabitants of the town of Salisbury above
the age of twenty-one years, who have resided
within the limits of said town for six months next
preceding the election and twelve months in the
State, and all non-residents of said town who own
any real estate within the corporate limits of said
town and pay taxes thereon, and a resident of the
State of Maryland, shall on the first Monday of
April annually to elect five persons who have re-
sided twelve months previous to the election in
said town, and who at the time are conducting
some business or are tax-payers therein, Commis-
sioners for said town for the ensuing twelve
months, or until their successors are elected and
duly qualified. |

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the Commission-
ers elect shall within thirty days after their elec-
tion duly qualify before any Justice of the Peace
for Somerset or Worcester by taking the oath re-
quired by law, and if any one shall fail to qualify
within the required time he shall be considered as
refusing to accept the office and the vacancy shall
be filled by a majority of those remaining, and
if daring the year for which they are elected any
one shall die, resign, remove from said town or
in any other manner be disqualified from holding
said office a majority of the remaining Commis- |
