Mr. Bowie presented the petition of William McKnew, of
Prince George's county, praying to be refunded a sum of
money paid into the State Treasury ;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Bowie, Compton
and Billingslea.

On motion of Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Maddox, Young and Ste-
phenson, to introduce a bill to pay the claims of the respec-
tive Committees and Officers of the General Assembly of Ma-
land, assembed at Frederick city, in extra Session, Septem-
ber, 1861.

On motion of Mr. Young, it was

Ordered, That the Comptroller furnish this House with the
contracts and bills for printing the Laws, Documents, Bills
and Journal of Proceedings of the Senate for the years 1858,
I860 and 1862.

On motion of Mr. Jump,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Jump, Stephenson Mackall,
Vickers and Tome, to report a bill to incorporate the Cecil
and Harford Counties Boom Company.

On motion of Mr. Billingslea,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate the Westminister Gas Light
Company of Carroll county.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson,

Ordered, That all bills of public general or public local
character, after their first reading, shall be printed and laid
upon the desks of Senators before being read a second time,
unless otherwise ordered.
