more and the several election districts of the coun-
ties, for ten days immediately preceding the third
day prior to any election hereafter to be held in
this State, whether State, Federal or Municipal,
and whether general or special, from nine o'clock
A. M. to 5 o'clock P. M., for the purpose of dis-
charging the duties imposed on them by this
article, and they shall give notice of the time and
place of meeting at least ten days before the day
of their first meeting, by publication in three
newspapers in the city of Baltimore, one of which
shall be published in the German language, and
in one newspaper in each county in which a news-
paper is published, having the largest circulation,
as may appear by their subscription books, the
editor or publisher to furnish the same under oath
to said officer of registration, and also by hand-
bills posted at such public places as they may se-
lect in the several precincts of the city of Balti-
more and election districts of the several counties,
and in case of making a change in the place of
meeting, they shall at once publish in said papers
notice of such change, said notices and publica-
tions to he paid for by the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore and the County Commissioners of the
several counties.

Sec. 6. As soon as they shall have closed their
sittings on the third day preceding any election,
the said officers of registration shall immediately
proceed to make or cause to be made an alphabet-
ical list of the qualified voters, and the said list
shall then be finally closed for that election, and
two fair copies thereof shall be made, one of which
shall be lodged by the officers of registration with
the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the county, and
the Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore city,
and the other delivered to the Judges of Election
at or before the opening of the polls on the morn-
ing of the election; and in the city of Baltimore
the said officers of registration for the several
wards shall separate the lists into precincts, and
prepare their lists of voters according to the sub-
divisions of their respective wards into precincts,
designating the election precinct of the ward in
which the voters are or shall be respectively enti-
tled to vote, and shall deliver one copy of the list
