officers shall receive for their services the sum of
three dollars for each day occupied in the discharge
of their duties, to be paid by the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore and the County Commis-
sioners of the several counties of this State, and
any vacancies shall be filled by the Governor and
all such officers before entering upon the discharge
of their duties shall take and subscribe before the
Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore city and
the Clerks of the several Circuit Courts respec-
tively, the oath prescribed in the seventh section
of the first Article of the Constitution, or the oath
prescribed for office-holders in the first section of
the Act passed at the present session of the Gen-
eral Assembly, entitled, an Act to restore to full
citizenship the right to vote and hold office, all
persons who may be deprived thereof by the pro-
visions contained in the fourth section of the first
Article of the Constitution of this State, generally
known as the enfranchising Act.

Sec. 2. The said officers of registration shall re-
ceive from the Clerk of the Superior Court of
Baltimore city) and the Clerks of the several
Circuit Courts, the books of registration now in
the offices of said clerks respectively, and shall
adopt and use said books for the purpose of effect-
ing the registration provided for in this Article,
and the said Clerks shall immediately upon the
appointment and qualification of said officers, de-
liver said books to them, and also duly certified
copies of the lists of qualified voters now on record
in their respective offices.

Sec. 3. It shall be the duty of said officers of
registration upon receipt of said books and lists of
qualified voters, to correct the same by striking
therefrom the names of persons who may have re-
moved from the county or State, or who may have
died or have become disqualified under the provisions
of the third and fifth sections of the first Article of
the Constitution, and all persons whose names ap-
pear on said books and lists as qualified voters after
the same shall have been corrected as aforesaid, are
hereby declared to be legal and qualified voters,
and shall be entitled to vote at every election here-
after held in this State; the said officers of regis-
tration shall then add to said lists of qualified
