CHAPTER 220.

AN ACT to incorporate the Head of Sassafras,
Warwick and Delaware Line Rail Road Com-
pany.

8,1867.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John B. Morton, William M.
Knight, J. Chandler Crookshanks, Hamilton Mor-
ton, William Wilson, Edward W. Lockwood and
William Price, be, and they are hereby appointed
commissioners to do and perform the several things
hereinafter mentioned, that is to say, they or a
majority of them shall, at any time within two
years from the passage of this Act) open the books
of subscription, with the following entry : "We
whose names are hereto subscribed do promise
to pay to the President and Directors of the Head
of Sassafras, Warwick and Delaw are line Rail
Road Company, the sum of fifty dollars for each
and every share of stock set opposite to our respec-
tive names, at such times, and in such installments
as the said president and directors shall deter-
mine ;" and the said Commissioners shall permit
all persons desiring to subscribe, either in their
own names, or for others, and if any of said Com-
missioners shall die or decline to act, those remain-
ing may appoint others in their stead.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That as soon as four
hundred shares shall be subscribed, the said Head
of Sassafras, Warwick and Delaware Line Rail
Road Company shall be a body corporate, capable
of suing and being sued, and of purchasing, leas-
ing, holding and mortgaging lands and personal
estate for its purposes as a Rail Road, and may
have a common seal, and all powers properly
belonging to such an incorporation, but not any
banking privileges, or power to issue a currency.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That as soon as said
four hundred shares shall be subscribed, the Com-
missioners shall give notice thereof in some news-
paper published in Elkton, and such other news-
papers as they may deem proper, and shall give
twenty days notice to the subscribers to meet at
