Sec. 14. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
Act shall be so construed as to authorize the said
Company to issue any note, token, scrip or other
evidence of debt to be used as currency, and the
General Assembly hereby reserves the right to
alter, amend or repeal this Act at pleasure. |
In force. |
Sec. 15. And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. |

AN ACT entitled, an Act to amend the charter of
the Cumberland and Somerset Turnpike Road
Company. |
Where to be
inhabitants. |
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the President and Directors of
the Cumberland and Somerset Turnpike Road
Company, hereafter elected, shall at the time of
their election and during the time they shall act
as such, be inhabitants of Allegany county in the
State of Maryland. |
Duty of the
President and
Directors. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of the President and Directors of the said
Cumberland and Somerset Turnpike Road Com-
pany, and they are hereby required to expend all
the tolls collected on said road, after deducting the
salaries of gate keepers, in repairing said road, and
it shall not be lawful for said President and Di-
rectors to apply the said tolls to any purpose what-
ever other than keeping said road in good order,
or in paying the debts thereof. |
Penalty for a
violation. |
Sec. 3. And be it enacted. That any President
or Director of the said Cumberland and Somerset
Turnpike Road Company who shall knowingly
violate the provisions of the second section of this
Act, shall for every such offence be liable to in-
dictment in the Circuit Court for Allegany county,
and on conviction thereof be fined by the Court, a |
