sident and Directors thereof, at any time, to pre-
scribe or exercise any mode of municipal govern-
ment, or of police in any town or place owned or
occupied by the said Company, but the population
of such town or place, shall be subject to the pre-
sent law of this State, find such alterations thereof
as may from time to time, be authorized by the
General Assembly. |

Sec. 9 And be it enacted, That nothing here-
in contained shall be taken or construed so as to
authorize the said Company to establish a bank,
or to issue any note, scrip or device in the nature
of a currency or to be used as money. |

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the day and date of its passage,
and the General Assembly reserves to itself the
right to alter, amend or repeal this Act at plea-
sure. |

A Supplement to an AN ACT entitled an Act to
incorporate the Charles Street Avenue Company,
passed at January Session, eighteen hundred
and fifty-four. |
Preamble. |
WHEREAS, it hath been represented to this Gen-
eral Assembly, that persons residing on or near
the line of Charles street Avenue, are in the habit
of permitting cattle to remain upon the said road,
interfering with its use as a pleasure drive, and
endangering travelers who are compelled to make
use of the same, especially at night : |

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That whenever any horses, mules,
cows or other cattle shall be found upon the
Charles street Avenue, except in course of transit
under the charge of the owner thereof, or his
agent or servant, the toll gatherers, or other agents |
