The bill entitled, an Act to provide for the changing of
names by application to the Judges of the several Circuit
Courts, of this State, and of the Circuit Court of Baltimore
city,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to punish persons for marrying
unlawfully,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The President announced the order of the day, being the
bill entitled, an Act to amend the charter of the Philadelphia
and Batimore Central Railroad Company;

Mr, Stephenson submitted the following amendment,

Amend section 1, line 4, by striking out the word "five,"
and insert in lieu thereof the word "three;"

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Stephenson submitted the following amendment:

"Provided, that the said Company shall within one year
from the passage of this Act, commence the construction of
their road at or near Stemmer's Run, and complete and put
in running order at least six miles thereof, running eastward-
ly from that point, in each and every year thereafter, until
the whole road shall be finished to the Susquehanna river,
and by a rout, running not more than one mile from the town
of Belair, and thence by the most eligible rout to the said
Susquehanna river, at or near the former mouth of Deer Creek
near Stafford;"

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Stephenson submitted the following amendment:

Amend section 1, by inserting after the word "proper," in
line 9, the words "within the limits hereinafter provided;"

Which was read and adopted.

The bill was then read the second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading, and

On motion by Mr. Mackall,

Was read the third time by special order, and passed by
yeas and nays as follow :
