Being under consideration.

Mr. Earle, moved to strike out all after the enacting clause,
and insert:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be, and he is
hereby empowered and directed to examine and adjust all
claims presented to him for settlement, by the officers and
members of the General Assembly of eighteen hundred and
sixty-one; and after careful ascertainment of their several
accounts or balances, he is hereby further empowered and di-
rected to issue his warrant to the Treasurer to pay the same.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the day of its passage.

On the question being put, it was determined in the affirma-
tive.

The bill was then ordered to be engrossed for a third read-
ing, and was accordingly engrossed.

Said bill was then read the third time and passed by
yeas and nays as follow :

Mr. Frazier was excused from voting.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported fa-
vorably a bill entitled, an Act to refund a sum of money er-
roneously paid into the State Treasury by William D. Bowie,
Jr., in the year 1866, on account of storage of Tobacco;

Which was read the first time.
On Motion by Mr. Bowie,

The rules were suspended, and the bill read the second,
and by special order the third time, three-fourths con-
curring; and passed by yeas and nays as follow :
