The amendment was receded from.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the bill entitled, a
Act to incorporate the Marine Fire Insurance Company <
Baltimore;

Also, the bill entitled, an Act to incorporate "The Pot<
mac Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore," with proposed
amendment.

Amendment proposed:

"Strike out section 11."

The House took up for consideration the- Senate bill enti-
tled, an Act to compensate Ezekiel F. Chambers for pro-
fessional services rendered the State.

Said bill being upon a third reading.

Pending the consideration of which, Mr. Clarke proposed
the following amendment:

Add at end of first section, and to the Governor the sum
of fourteen hundred and seventeen dollars to pay the expenses
attending the reception of the President of the United States
on the fifteenth day of September, eighteen hundred and
sixty-six.
