Mr. Evans proposed the following amendment to the
amendment:

Strike out of amendment all after the word "pleasure."
Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Stevens moved the previous question,
Which was sustained.

The question then being, "Shall the previous question be
now put?" it was sustained.

The question then recurring upon the amendment pro-
posed by Mr. Evans, it was adopted.

The amendment proposed by Mr. Nicolai, as amended, was
then adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a third time, and
passed by yeas and nays, as follow:
