Mr. Kerr, (the rules being suspended,) Chairman of the
Committee on Printing, made the following report:

The Committee on Printing, to whom was referred the
motion to print 5,000 copies of the report of the Committee
on Federal Relations, respectfully report that, in their opi-
nion 500 copies would be sufficient for the use of the General
Assembly.

Pending the consideration of which, the hour having ar-
rived for taking up the order of the day;
Mr. Knott moved,

That the order of the day be postponed for ten minutes,

Which was not sustained.

The House then took up for consideration the bill entitled,
an Act to authorize the Board of Public Works to vote the
stock of the State in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Com-
pany for a President and four Directors upon the nomina-
tion of the holders of preferred bonds of said Company;

Said bill being upon a second reading;

Mr. Buhrman moved to postpone indefinitely.

It was rejected.

The following amendment, proposed by the Committee on
Ways and Means, viz:

In section 3, line 5, after the word expenses, insert "in-
cluding all expenses incurred since the close of navigation
in the autumn of 1866, was then adopted;

Mr. Linthicum proposed the following amendment:
In line 3, section 3, after the word "use" insert "as may be
directed by the Board of Public Works."
Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Davis, of Baltimore city, moved the previous question ;
