812 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 8,

"Section 1, line 2, insert after the word "Baltimore" "one
of whom shall hare been a resident of the 1st Legislative
District, one a resident of the 2nd Legislative District, and
one a resident of the 3rd Legislative District of said city of
Baltimore for at least the term of one year next preceding
the day of his election."

The House having refused to concur in said amendment,
we respectfully request your Honorable Body to recede there-
from.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
The House then resumed the consideration of the order of
the day, being the bill entitled an Act to incorporate the
Frederick and Pennsylvania line Railroad Company,
Said bill being upon a second reading.

Pending which Mr. Stevens proposed the following amend-
ment :

Section 10, line 6, insert "20,000," strike out "40,000;"
Which was adopted.
Also the following:

Section 12, line 8, after the word road insert by paying a
proper and just compensation therefor.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Clarke proposed the following amendment:
Strike out all after the word "Company" in fifth line;
Which was adopted.
Mr. Stevens proposed the following amendment :

Section 15, line 3, after the word lands insert through
which the road shall be intended to pass.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Davis, of Balt, city, proposed the following amendment.
Section 20, line 9, strike out thirty and insert fifty dollars.
Which was rejected.

Mr. Clarke proposed the following amendment:
Section 21, line 3, after the word "ten" insert the words
"per mile."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Clarke proposed the following amendment;

Strike out the 23d section;

Which was adopted.
