accordance with the views entertained by the counsel retained
on the part of the State, therefore

Resolvedly the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Board of Public Works be and they are hereby instructed
and directed to cause the suit, which at their instance was
directed to be instituted in the name of the State against the
Annapolis and Elkridge Railroad Company, to be dismissed.

Which was read a first time.

Also, the bill entitled, an Act for the benefit of the Cam-
bridge Academy, endorsed, passed by yeas and nays with
proposed amendments.

The proposed amendments were non-concurred in.
Mr. Phelps submitted the following message :

Gentlemen of the Senate :

The House of Delegates having refused to concur in the
amendments proposed by the Senate to the House bill en-
titled, an Act for the benefit of the Cambridge Female Acad-
emy, we respectfully request your honorable body to recede
from said amendments.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an Act to repeal
sections 806, 807, 808, 809, 810, 811, 812, 813,
814, 815, 816, 817, 818, 819, 820, 821, and 822,
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
the city of Baltimore and the additional Articles adopted by
the Act of the General Assembly, passed at the session of
1860, chapter 46, the additional sections adopted by the Act
of General Assembly, passed at the session of 1864, chapter
,42, the additional sections adopted by the Act of the same
session of 1864, chapter 244 and the 3d section of the Act of
the session of 1865, chapter 46, for the establishment of a
Police Force for the city of Baltimore and to re-enact same
with amendments;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments."

AMENDMENTS PROPOSES :

1. In title, in line 3, after the word "Baltimore" strike
out the words " and the additional Articles adopted by the
Act of the General Assembly, passed at Jauuary lession,
1860, chapter 6, the additional sections adopted by the Act of
