The Secretary of the Senate returned the bill entitled, an
Act to authorize the purchase of certain lands in the city of
Annapolis, in Anne Arundel county, for the public use of the
United States' as part of the Naval Academy, and to
cede to the United States concurrent jurisdiction over such
lands and to exempt the same from taaation ;
Endorsed, " passed by yeas and nays."
The Secretary of the Senate returned the Joint Resolutions
in favor of Frances Wimsatt and Ellen Wimsatt
Endorsed, "pa«sed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ment."
AMENDMENT PROPOSED :
Strike out all after the Resolution, and add the following
in Heu thereof in favor of Frances Wimsatt, Ellen Wim-
satt and Nancy Wiles, of Harford county :
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Treasurer of Maryland be and he is hereby directed, on the
warrant of the Comptroller, to pay over to Frances Wimsatt
and Ellen Wimsatt, widows, respectively, of Benedict and
James L. Wimsatt, and to Nancy Wiles, former widow of
Ephraim Gover Hopkins, Boldien of the war of 1812, each,
or to their order, in quarterly payments, the sum of eighty
dollars per year, during their lives, from the passage of ,this
Resolution.
The amendment was concurred in, and the Resolution, as
amended, passed by yeas and nays as follow:
