Mr. Evans, (the rules being suspended) presented the pe-
tition of P. B. Pennington and others, that the Legislature
will pass an Act to authorize the State of Maryland to issue
bonds for the benefit of the Kent county railroad to the amount
of $30,000;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.,

Also, the petition of John B. Morton and others, to grant
a charter for a railroad 3 miles in length to connect with the
Kent county Railroad, and terminate at Middletown, Dela-
ware, and that the portion of money allotted to the first Elec-
tion District except as to the Boheman Bridge, may be ap-
propriated to said road of 8 miles in length from the line of
Kent county by the village of Warwick to the Delaware
State line;

Which wag read and referred to Cecil county delegation.
On motion of Mr. Knott,

Leave was granted the Judiciary Committee to introduce a
bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Courts of this State to
pass rules to motions for new trials; also,

Leave was granted the Committee on Judiciary to intro-
duce a bill to repeal section 12,of Article 4, of the supple-
ment of the Maryland Code of Public Local Laws, entitled,
Baltimore eity, and to enact a substitute therefor;
