action of this General Assembly in regard to the election ord-
ered on the first Wednesday in February, 1867, and that, to
enable him to carry into effect this resolution, the sum of ten
thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated.

land Hospital for the Insane.

Mr. Thomas, Chairman Committee on Ways and Means,
made a favorable report upon a bill entitled, an Act to ex-
empt the Committee of the first Baptist Church of Baltimore
from taxation on certain stock therein mentioned;
Also, a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 398, 399,
400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 408 and 409, of the
Code of Public Local Laws entitled, Guano;
Which were severally read a first time.
On motion of Mr. Thomas,
The Committee on Way sand Means, were discharged from
the further consideration of the petition of John Thompson
Mason, asking to be restored under the Constitution to his
rights of citizenship.
Mr. Nicolai from the Committee on Corporations reported
favorably a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Big Hunt-
ing Creek Mining and Iron Manufacturing Company, in Fre-
derick county;
Also, a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Maryland
Fire, Life and Accident Insurance Company of Allegany
county.
Mr. Magruder from the Committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 1,
2 and 3 of chapter 43, of the law passed at January session,
1862, and to re-enact the same with amendments;
Which were seterally read a first time.
On motion of Mr. Aydelott,
The rules being suspended,
Odered, That it be entered on the Journal, that the Hon.
William G. Gordy is detained from his seat in this House,
owing to illness of his family.
Mr. Boswell from a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to amend section 227 of article 4 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, as repealed and re-enacted by an
Act to repeal section 227 of article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, relating to elections in Baltimore city, and to re-
enact the same with amendments, passed January 30th,
1867;
