On motion of Mr. Boswell,
Ordered, That the President of the Baltimore and Potomac
Railroard Company be and he is hereby requested to furnish for
the information of this General Assembly without delay, a
copy of the contract as made by said company, for the con-
struction of said road; also the name and residence of each
contractor, if more than one, together with a list of the stock-
holders; and the amount or number of shares subscribed by
each, as also the amount paid on each share so subscribed to
this date. And further, if the contractors have commenced
the work on said road, when and where, and the amount of
work done at this time.
The hour of twelve o'clock having arrived, in compliance
with the adjournment of yesterday, and in conformity with
the Act of Congress, chapter 245, entitled, "An Act to reg-
ulate the time and manner of holding elections for Senators
in Congress," the Senators of Maryland appeared in the Hall
of the House, and the two bodies conjointly proceeded to hold
an election for Senator to succeed the Hon. John A. J. Cres-
well in the Congress of the United States.
The roll of Senators and Members of the House of Dele-
gates being called, it appeared by a viva voce vote of each
Senator and Member present, (a majority of all the Members
elected to both Houses being present and voting), that:
