RULES AND REGULATIONS

OF THE

MARYLAND STATE LIBRARY.

These Rules will be strictly adhered to and enforced.

I

THE LIBRARY shall be opened every day during the Session
of the Legislature, (Sundays excepted.) from nine o'clock,
A. M. and closed at the time of the daily adjournment of both
Houses; and from five to nine o'clock, p. M., except at night
Sessions, when it shall remain open until both Houses may
adjourn.

In the recess of the Legislature, it shall be open every day
from nine o'clock, A. M., till three o'clock p. M.

III

Books, to be issued by the Librarian pursuant to law, shall
be returned as follows:—a folio, within three weeks; a quar-
to, within two weeks; an octavo or duodecimo, within one
week.

No member shall receive more than one book within the
terms aforesaid, unless where so connected as to be otherwise
useless,

Any person authorized to receive Books from the Library,
(other than Law Books.) who shall not return them within
the time specified, shall, for every day's detention thereof,
forfeit, for a folio, one dollar per day; a quarto, fifty cents
per day; an octavo or duodecimo, twenty-five cents per day.
Law Digests shall be returnable in twenty-four hours from
their delivery, and other Law Books at the end of four days
therefrom, at the latest.
