The above is a Statement of time lost, by sickness and leave
of absence, in the several Districts, making a total of 2,850
days.
Time lost by sickness is paid for from a special fund deriv-
ed from fines imposed by Magistrates, at the Station houses
and from fines imposed by the Board for dereliction of duties.
Members of the Police who have contracted sickness or been
disabled while in the discharge of their duty, are paid their
salary in full for twelve months, after being placed on the
disabled list, as provided by law—Sec. 813, Article 4, page
316—Code, vol. 11.
