COMMISSIONERS OF PRACTICAL PLUMBING.

Governor appoints three skilled plumbers of Baltimore City, the Com-
missioner of Health of Baltimore City and one member of the State
Board of Health, for a term of 2 years from the 1st day in May.
(Ch. 436,1910.)

The law of Maryland requires that those who may desire to engage in
or work at plumbing shall first secure a certificate of their competency.
It is the duty of this Board to examine those so engaged and to ascertain.
whether or not they are entitled to a certificate.

The Board holds meetings regularly twice a week from February 1st
to May 1st of each year for the renewing of and issuing of licenses,
and from May 1st to October 1st for the examination of those desiring
to engage in the business of plumbing.

Master certificates are given upon a successful answer to a written
and practical examination, while the journeyman certificates are given
to those who successfully answer a verbal and practical examination.

INSPECTORS OF STEAM BOILERS.

(Ch. 123, 1898, Sec. 573.)

The boiler inspectors shall give six days' notice in writing to each
owner or renter of a steam boiler, or the engineer or person in charge,
of the time when they will inspect, and such owner or renter shall have
such boiler ready for inspection, in compliance with the requirements of
said notice, and shall furnish such assistance as the inspector may require,
under a penalty of fifty dollars for failure or neglect, and a further pen-
alty of fifty dollars for each day any boiler is used without a certificate
of inspection. '

It shall be the duty of each inspector, once at least in every year, to
inspect all stationary steam boilers of three-horse power and upwards,
used within the limits of his district.
