The Chief of the Bureau of Statistics and Information is appointed
by the Governor, with the consent of the Senate, for a term of two
years from the first Monday In May. The Chief appoints all clerks
and employes in the Bureau. (Ch. 29, 1892.)

The Chief of the Bureau appoints the two Inspectors, whose duties
are to inspect the tenements, dwelling houses, factories, workshops,
together with other duties prescribed by the Chief of Bureau. (Ch.
101, 1902.)

This Bureau is charged with the duty of collecting and classifying
information relating to the industrial interests of the State and the
needs of the same, and with the annual publication of the data so
obtained.

This Bureau is also charged with the duty of superintending the
proper execution of the provisions of the Dorton Child Labor Law.
(Ch. 192, 1906.)
