Thirteen of Commission appointed by the Governor under the pro-
visions of Joint Resolution of the General Assembly of 1904, No, 5, to
report to the General Assembly of 1906 their recommendations as to
Maryland's participation in the Jamestown Exposition to be held at
Hampton Roads May 13, 1907. Under the Act of 1906, Chapter 779,
the Governor was authorized to increase the number of Commissioners
to twenty-five, and to appoint an Auxiliary Commission.

The Governor appoints four, one annually for four years from the first
Monday in May. (P.G.L., Art. 59, Sec. 13.)

The State Lunacy Commission has supervision over all institutions,
public, corporate or private, in which insane persons are detained. The
Secretary of the Commission, or one member thereof, is required at
least once every six months to visit all institutions in the State, includ-
ing almshouses, jails, etc., where the insane are kept. This Commission
makes an annual report to the Governor in the month of December,

The State livestock Sanitary Board is charged with the duties of
protecting the health of domestic animals from contagious and infec-
tious diseases, and to maintain and enforce such quarantine, sanitary
or other regulations as it may deem necessary.
