1This session was called by Governor Wright to elect his successor, he having
resigned. The Assembly elected Gov. Lloyd and passed an amendment to the Con-
stitution, which was ratified at the November session, providing for the succession
in the event of the death or resignation of the Governor, making it unnecessary to
call the Legislature for that purpose.

2Extra session called by Governor Bowie to provide for arming and equipping
the militia for service in the war with Great Britain.

3Extra session called by Governor Winder to raise troops for the defence of
Annapolis and Baltimore, as there was a large hostile fleet In the Chesapeake.

4By Act of 1811, ch. 211, confirmed by Act of 1812, ch. 129, the date of meeting
was changed to the first Monday in December.

An act extending civil rights and religious privileges by removing religious
tests for office was introduced and carried through by Benedict J. Semmes. Ch. 84
of 1822, confirmed by ch. 116 of 1823.

6 By Act of 1833, ch. 111, confirmed by Act of 1824, ch. 73, the date of meeting
was changed to last Monday in December.
