252 MARYLAND MANUAL.

Population, Assessment and Taxation of the Counties of Maryland—Popu-
lation of Maryland by the Census of 1900.

STATEMENT—Showing the Public School, Outstanding Debt, Free
Books, Penitentiary Loan, Insane Asylum and State Building and
Improvement Loan Taxes in each County and Baltimore City for the
year 1900, based upon the Assessment of 1900.

*Anne Arundel has a separate road tax for each district, which makes
the tax in the several districts, inclusive of the road tax: First, $1.46;
second, $1.16; third, $1.53; fourth, $1.60; fifth, $1.31; sixth, 87 cents;
eighth, $1.21.

+The road tax in Carroll is: First district, 15 cents; second, 10; third,
9; fourth, 15; fifth, 17; sixth, 12; seventh, 8; eighth, 16; ninth, 15;
tenth, 9; eleventh, 8; twelfth, 12; thirteenth, 13.
