his time to that company. He has by industry and close
attention to business risen to the second place in that large
company. He was elected member of House of Delegates
in 1897.

ASHLEY M. GOULD, Republican.
Ashley M. Gould was born October 8, 1859. After
graduating from Amberst College in the class of 1881, he
attended the Georgetown University Law School, from
which institution be graduated in 1884. He has continued
in the practice of his profession since in the courts of
Maryland and the District. He is a resident of Takoma
Park. He was elected member of House of Delegates in
1897.
JAMES E. AYTON, Republican.
James E. Ayton was born in Montgomery county in
1847. He received a common school education, and at the
age of nineteen embarked in she mercantile business at
Laytonsville. Success attended him, and about five years
ago he sold out his business, and has since been living on
his farm, near Laytonsville. For many years he has been
prominently identified with Republican politics. He was
elected member of House of Delegates in 1897.
GEORGE MINOR ANDERSON, Republican.
George Minor Anderson is thirty-nine years of age, and
is a native of Montgomery. He was educated at St. John's
College, Annapolis, and the United States Military Academy
at West Point. After spending some years on surveying
expeditions he returned to Rockville, and was elected sur-
veyor for Montgomery county. Mr. Anderson built up a
large private business, but decided to take up the study of
law. In 1890 he entered the National University Law
School at Washington, and two years later graduated
among the first four in his class. He at once became a
member of the Montgomery county bar. He was elected
member of House of Delegates in 1897.
