A hill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
the Children's Aid Society;
A bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
the Union Orphan Asylum;
A bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Comptroller to
credit Benjamin G. Fitzhugh, late clerk of the Circuit Court
for Frederick county, with a certain sum of money paid
Robert G. McPherson, for services as deputy-clerk;
Which were read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
A bill entitled, an Act to declare the sanction of the Gen-
eral Assemby to the bequest of William N. Johnson, late of
Somerset county, deceased, to the vestry of Somerset Parish
in said county;
A bill entitled, an Act to authorize the committee of the
Presbyterian Congregation of Pitt's creek in Worcester
county, to sell and convey certain real estate in said county;
A bill en titled, an Act to authorize Wm. H. Downs, of
Anne Arundel county, to act in the double capacity of justice
of the peace and assistant assessor.
A bill entitled, an Act to repeal section 3, of article 98, of
the Code of Public General Laws, in so far as it may relate
to Anne Arundel county, and to repeal section 211, of ar-
ticle 2, of the Code of Public Local Laws, and to re-enact the
same with amendments;
Which were read the first time and referred to the commit-
tee on the Judiciary.
A bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Baltimore and
Southern Steam Transportation Company;
A bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the village of the
"Head of Sassafras," in Kent county, Maryland;
"Which were read the first time and referred to the commit-
tee on Corporations.
A bill entitled, an Act to amend the Public Local Laws,
relating to Chestertown, by repealing sections 42 and 56, and
re-enacting the same with amendments;
A bill entitled, an Act to authorize and empower tie Trus-
tees of the Alms House of Kent County to sell and convey a
certain piece of land to Thomas Baker and others, Trustees .
of Camp Meetings, and for other purposes of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, in Kent circuit;
"Which were read the first time and referred, to the Kent
