Powers of the
Corporation. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration and their successors, by the name and style
and title aforesaid, shall have power to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be an-
swered unto, defend and be defended in all or any
Courts of Justice, and before all or any Judges,
officers or persona whatsoever, is all and singular
actions, matters or demand whatsoever. |
Rights and
privileges. |
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration and their successors shall have a common
seal for their use, and the same at their will and
pleasure change and make anew, and shall exer-
cise all the rights, privileges and immunities inci-
dent thereto or necessary to corporations, to enable
it duly and fully to execute all things touching
and concerning the design and intent thereof, for
the benevolent succor and relief of persona belong-
ing to said society, in accordance with their Con-
stitution and by-laws, not in violation of the
Constitution and laws of this State or of the
United States. |
Property not
to be diverted. |
Sec. 4. And be. it enacted. That the funds and
estate of said corporation shall not at any time be
diverted from the purposes contemplated by its
formation without the permission of the General
Assembly of Maryland. |
Annual elec-
tion. |
Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the officers of
this society shall be elected annually on Whit-
monday by a majority of the members present,
but a failure to elect shall not work forfeiture of
the corporate powers or rights of said society; all
officers shall retain their offices until their suc-
cessors are elected or removed as provided for in
their Constitution and by-laws. |
Reservation. |
Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the General
Assembly reserves to itself the right to change,
alter, amend, or repeal this Act at pleasure. |
In force. |
Sec. 7. And be it enacted, This Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage. |
