THOMAS SWANN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR. 679 officers shall receive for their services the sum of three dollars for each day occupied in the discharge of their duties, to be paid by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore and the County Commis- sioners of the several counties of this State, and any vacancies shall be filled by the Governor and all such officers before entering upon the discharge of their duties shall take and subscribe before the Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore city and the Clerks of the several Circuit Courts respec- tively, the oath prescribed in the seventh section ot the first Article of the Constitution, or the oath prescribed for offiice-holders in the first section of the Act passed at the present session of the Gen- eral Assembly, entitled, an Act to restore to full citizenship the right to vote and hold office, all persons who may be deprived thereof by the pro- visions contained in the fourth section of the first Article of the Constitution of this State, generally known as the enfranchising Act. Sec. 2. Sec. 3. It shall be the duty of said officers of officers to registration upon receipt of said books and lists of correct books* qualified voters, to correct the same by striking therefrom the names of persons who may have re- moved from the county or State, or who may have died or have become disqualified under the provisions of the third and fifth sections of the first Article of the Constitution, and all persons whose names ap- pear on said books and lists as qualified voters after the same shall have been corrected as aforesaid, are hereby declared to be legal and qualified voters, and shall be entitled to vote at every election here- affcer held in this State; the said officers of regis- tration shall then add to said lists of qualified |
