CHAPTER 318.


AN ACT to authorize Grayson Eichelberger,
State Bounty Commissioner of Frederick county,
to pay to Ezra L. Kama, Admistrator of Thos.
E. Kama certain bounty.

15, 1867.

WHEREAS, By Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, chap-
ter thirty-three, section two, and chapter one hun-
dred and six, section two, certain bounties therein
mentioned were given to volunteers, payable to
them or their authorized agents or attorneys; and
whereas, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly that Thomas E. Karns was duly enlisted and
mustered into the United States service, and cred-
ited to Frederick county, Maryland, under the call
of December nineteenth, eighteen hundred and
sixty-four, and executed a power of attorney to
the said Ezra L. Kama, authorizing and empow-
ing him to collect the bounty due him, under the
Acts aforesaid; and whereas, the said Grayson
Eichelberger objects to paying said bounty to the
said Ezra L. Karns, as the attorney of the said
Thomas E. Karns, because of the death of the said
principal, and he is also unwilling to pay the
bounty aforesaid to the said Ezra L. Karns, as
Administrator of the said Thomas E. Karns, de-
ceased, because the aforesaid Acts do not provide
that the said bounty, in case of the death of the
party enlisting, shall be paid to his heirs; there-
fore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Grayson Eichelberger, State
Bounty Commissioner of Frederick county, be and
he is hereby authorized and directed to pay to
Ezra L. Karns, Administrator of the said Thos.
E. Karns, upon the aforesaid power of attorney
now in his possession, the bounty which accrued
to the Thomas E. Karns by reason of his enlist-
ment as aforesaid under the Acts above named.

Authority to
pay.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
